Being an executor involves a list of duties starting with arrangements for the deceased to be transported after death to an appropriate place and arranging the funeral.  Equally important is the responsibility of determining and immediately safeguarding the assets of the deceased. In some cases, this will involve arranging for the care of any pets. Even before the funeral is over the administration of the estate starts.  The list of the responsibilities is a long one and a CEA can assist in setting these out for you. In some provinces many of these responsibilities are set out by legislation but it helps to have someone to work through these with you and explain the process involved.
